MOE interview!

hey all. =D

so I had my MOE scholarship interview today.

I read a butt load of stuff for it. memorised lots of stuff too.

like, nama menteri kesihatan? Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Muhammad Yusof.

no copy pasting there. all brain work.

and so I was ready mentally for MIB questions. I memorised kuih kuih brunei, perambahan brunei, what happens during a wedding and all that.

I got there early. my interview was supposedly at 3.20, but I knew some people would take longer, so maybe 3.30. I got there by 2.50. and started revising and all.

then ada this chinese guy rush masuk with his MS folder with all his certs. then I talked to him and ia cakap ia tadi tinggal certs nya so ia rush balik. kesian. x]

so he went in before me. by 3.30, he told me it was my turn.

and theennnnn. there was only 1 interviewer. a lady. late 40s maybe. i was expecting at least 3. so I'm like, okay. it's all goooood.

and turns out, she didnt ask me ANY crazy mib questions! O_O

she asked me why meds, and what specialty will I be taking.

and I'm like, meds is awesome and I talked about my interview. she was impressed with it, so I talked about that more. it was going well.

then I had to read a text. reading reading, azan tiaaa. so I asked to stop skajap for the azan. hope I got extra points from that. =p

then, sambung baca, I didnt really understand the text. x] but I answered 2 out of 4 of her questions easily. the others, ia mesti explain sikit. thennn I could understand.

then ia tanya about why ECAs are important and traits a leader should have.

breezed through that. and that was my interview. =D

and to prepare, I took a few days off from my attachment. so I'm free till saturday. =D

which meansss.... LOL for meeee! yay. =D

I might be going to watch some pirates of the caribbean this sunday. so maybe I'll post a movie review. =]

hopefully, it'll be as cool as balls! like this!

ooh! during my attachment, I saw something cooool.

I watched my first biopsy. =DD

it's where they take out a sample of a tumor or something to study.

and I watched the wholeee thing. the multiple injections at the beginning, then the cut, then more cuts, then cutting off a slice of tumor, thenn jait balik. it was very interesting. =]

i was supposed to go watch a bi-lateral cleft lip repair (how doctor-y do I sound? =p) surgery yesterday, but I had to study. it would've been veerrryyyyy interesting. but yeah, scholarship before attachment.

maybe next week. and hopefully, I can take pictures or something. would be great to post disgusting pictures of blood and organs for y'all. =p

so it's been like...3 weeks since I last updated? or something like that.

buutttt that's because I've been busyyy. =D

getting a driver's license and all has made me a busy busy man.

so let's get started.

first off, I've started 'working out'

but not in the way that'll make me buff.

but in the way that'll make me fit, yet gain appetite. =D

which involves swimming, eating, jogging anddd playing futsal.

hopefully, it goes well.

secondly, I just went for my first day of attachments! =D

it was veerrryyyy interesting.

unfortunately, I cant share any good stories with you guys. especially embarrassing ones. and let me tell you, there wereee. ehhheheheheheh.

but I've learnt lots of things.

like, did you know, in order to qualify to be an Oral and Maxillo Facial (OMF) specialist you need to have a degree in medicine AND dentistry? which is 5 MORE years of learning. which is crazy! and you know about kidney stones? well do youu know about SALIVARY GLAND STONES??? you do? oh, okay then.

so yeah, stuff like that. and I also participated innnn..... LAZOR-ING SCARS! :OO that was fun. I watched how the doctors lazered bulged scars and injected them to flatten them. and learn how they work. fun.

tomorrow I've another day in RIPAS. so I hope that'll be fun as well. =]

last night, we went to JPCC Ampitheatre to watch that chinese arts thing! :D

that was.... partly fun. it featured TONS of crazily gifted people. so it was entertaining.

i just wished there more features. like a hugee screen showing animations or a close up of that crazy flute lady's fingers while she was playing the flute. that'd be fun....

but anywaysss, if I were to rate it, I'd give it a solid 9! it was entertaining, but there was that lip-synching group...... so yeah. =D

I wasss planning on giving you a movie review, but it's of thor. and you've watched that shit right? it's awesome. 9/10.

so it's beeeenn... 2 weeks? since my last post.

so yeah, neww news for ya.

first off, I just had my my driving test in the morning.

so by this saturday, I'll have my license!

so you know what thaaat means....

nexttt... last friday, I went to a trip to miri with the family.

buuuuttttttt.

I did nothing. cept follow my parents around looking at furnitureeee. *.*

so I could've stayed home and did the exact same thing. in the comfort of my bed and blankies.

I felt reaaaalllyyy unproductive that day. so i was a bit upset. cos I had MIB work to do. for the upcoming MOE scholarship interviews. so yeaaahhh.

but it's all goood. i did my work. still more to be done, but that's something. =]

speaakingg of unproductivity, this attachment thing to RIPAS is taking too long to start.

I want to get it over withhh. if it's not happening, then I want to take... a job! *.*

cos this holiday thing needs more money than I expected.

hmmmm.... nothing interesting happened over the weeeeks.

other than me, learning how to drive. and get overtaken by a FREAKING BUS.

Normal movie. funny parts here and there, lame parts here and there. but the difference isss. I watched it in 3D! :O

which was.... not as exciting as I hoped. so it was partly disappointing.

I guess, if you're up for a movie trip, this is one to go for? unless you want to watch the BIEBMASTER. ewwey.

so there's a big piece of news I want to share.

remember the medicine interview I got for UBD a week back?

yeah, I was called for another interview.

but it wasn't for UBD.

it was for.... THE FREAKING SULTAN SCHOLAR! *.*

so naturally, I did what anybody else does when they're told they're eligible for the sultan's scholar.

I FREAKING FREAKED OUT, MAN!

what's worse is that the call was given A DAY BEFORE the interview.

and, I dont know what the hell was going to be asked.

so naturally, I was screwed. screwed straight in the butt.

it was at 1.30 on thursday.

i arrived there (yayasan building at kumbang pasang) at around 1.20 with mum and sister cos I'm such a mama's boy.

i was called upon at 1.50.

guess what I had to do? WRITE A FREAKING ESSAY.

for 30 mins. there were a couple of topics. you choose them randomly.

my topic was "what values made me distinguished from other people? how will these values help you with your career?"

so I wrote, for 30 mins. an essay. i didnt know how long it must be. I didnt know what they were looking for. but I wrote.

then after 30 mins, was told that my time is up. and they took away my paper.

i was then escorted to the first floor.

wheree guess what?

I was told to make.... A PRESENTATION!

another random topic, out of like 20.

this was waaaayyyy worse than UBD in a few ways.

one, I didnt know about the topic till then.

two, I was told to make a maximum 10 minute presentation in.... oh, not much. about 5 minutes.

three, all the points I wrote down to prepare for my presentation? yeah, the piece of paper I worked hard on for 5 minutes? yeah, can't bring that in with me. leave that shit out.

andd I was set for my presentation! =D

FREAKING HEEELLLLLLLL.

my topic was "is sex education needed for teenagers?"

so I went in, thought about my presentation.

IN FRONT OF 7 PEOPLE IN COATS AND SONGKOKS AND SHIT.

and the set up of the 'interview' was...

a HUUGGEE circular table.

me sitting on one side, 7 people on the other.

such fun times.

so guess how long this 'interview' is?

ONE GODDAMNED HOUR.

so I'll just give you the gist.

I did very well for the first... 40 minutes or so.

thennn kana tanya pasal MIB. and lots of MIB questions.

and that's where I died out.

soo to me, it kinda sucked cos of the last part with the MIB. -.-

overall, I think I did a 6.5/10.

sooo wish me luck for that. =D

now I have to take an IELTS test cos my dad wants me to.

and I have to get ready for my UKCAT.

and tomorrow I have a 2 hour driving lessonnnn. yay. =D

I really feel like taking a job. i want some money. and the attachment thing is .....

gah. for once, I wish I had a one week lucky steak. *nods.

OMGUBDINTERVIEW.

my stinking interviews are oveeerrrrrr!! =DD

and crap was I almost screwed over in it.

you see, they had sent an email to us.

which I did not receive in my inbox.

which contained VALUABLE information about the interviews today.

which I thought contained a "dear mr azeez. interview at 9 at PAPHSRB on thursday. thank you."

so I was like, nyeh, no email, so it's okay.

then today, I arrived, bringing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

and it turns out..... I NEEDED TO MAKE A FREAKING 5-MINUTE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION.

so I was like ...O_O........."

thankfully, this dude (who I'm going to call 'the bestest friend I ever had' and gayly, 'my hero') told me before the interview and lent me his spare pendrive.

whilee we were waiting, which thank god was like an hour, I made the presentation.

and I finished. =D but I didnt have time to rehearse. but whatevssss. I made an IMPORTANT presentation under pressure. so shaddup. =p

so there was 13 stations righttt?

from my bestest friend in the world, I found out beforehand that one of the stations was the presentation (but it uses 2 stations cos we needed 5 mins to prepare first), 4 of the stations were reading something followed by 4 stations of people asking about what we read (one of the was acting) and one of the about a picture. so that's... 9? yeah, 9 revealed. somewhat. which maybee sounded great, but... yeah. x]

so I was number 23, and I started from station 2. which was 5 minutes of talking about the country's health services. how they are and the strengths and weaknesses.

then station 3 was watching this video about how this doctor was talking to his patient. nothing much, he makes a few mistakes. the most obvious one is answering the phone while with his patient, and talking about going to the club to 'get smashed'. in my mind I pictured the hulk saying "HULK SMASH!".

then station 4 was interview talking about his wrongs.

station 5 was reading about this team of doctors who wants to help this model with surgery to save her. but the model didnt want no surgery cos it'll scar and she's vain. but they illegally performed the surgery anyways. and they were sued.

station 6, asking about the article. the problems involved and what should be done and what I would've done. the interviewer was happy with my responses. so I think I did well. =]

station 7 was the worstttt. there was these 2 pictures on the japanese tsunami. and the woman was pressuring me "so what's the main problem? so what's the main problem?" and it turned out to be the nuclear thing. and I was likeee..... okay.... didnt know that was the maaiiinnn problem. isn't destroyed towns and houses and everything important too? I guess not. -_- and then she was all "so how can we help? so how can we help?" and I was like... "by sending money?" and then went "how can youuuu help?" then I was like.... "by sending money?" and thenn she went all "tell me the specifics!" and I was like... "by sending money... to the red cross?"

and she was then all "so what can the government do?" and I was like talking about tabung amanah or whatever the name is to donate money and then she was like "and the military?" so I said "maybe we can send the military over there?" then sheee said "no no, the japanese government!" and I was like... when did we talk about that??? then the interview ended. did not think I did well there. -_-

it wanted me to go

next iss the presentation! mine was in station 9.

I spend 5 minutes getting my shit straight, and practiced how I'd say it.

but then I found another problem... everything I said was going to be relevant but..... if I did, it was going to take more than 5 minutes! so I had to talk a bit quickly at some parts during the presentation. and then during the presentation.... I talk too little and had a minute left at the last slide! so I just talked about stuff. anddd it went well. the presenter look pleased. especially to my mentioning of the twinning programme during soas years. =D

so I was happy that was over.

station 10 is reading about electrical acupuncture.

station 11, questions regarding the validity of it. people swear by it, but does it work? will I use it? stuff like that. and the interviewer, who was pretty cool, was pretty pleased about talking to me about it. so that went well. =D

station 12, reading about the scene in which I was going to act in. i put my poker acting face on.

station 13, the act was about 'my best friend' who was bulimic. I had to talk some sense to her, etc. wasnt hard. I mean, I used myself as an example. I'm skinny. does shee want to be skinny and unattractive? stuff like that.

thenn I went back to station 1. the interview there was different cos it takes 10 minutes. it was about being a doctor. qualities of a doctor, etc. and the interviewer was foreign. i think he was african. sometimes his accent wasnt comprehendable, but he knew and he repeated. he asked me questions like, how should a doctor be, or act. and about teamwork. he seemed pleased with my answers. so I guess that went well too. =D

and that's the end of my interviews. which took more than an hour. but I survived. =D

so for all that boringness, you get... a movie review! =D

I've got an interview for medicine at UBD.

it's at 9 o'clock this upcoming thursday.

so I've been informed that there will be 'stations' during this interview by some biomed people.

the biomed people had 3 stations. each station had different questions. like there was this picture of rat with a human ear and they ask about it. stuff like that.

guess how many stations I get?

5? nope. 6? nope. 7?? nopeee.

THIR-FREAKING-TEEN STATIONS!

so you must feel my enjoyment right now, knowing I have to worry about 13 types of questions the people will be asking. so right now, I'm trying to brush up on general medicine news from BBC. hopefully, it'll help.

nexttt... i've a conditional offer from queen's university in belfast!!! =DDDDD

conditions are proper grades and 2200 score or above in UKCAT test. it's this aptitude test I have to take in july. I really hope I do good on that. my medicine future depends on itttt. x]

I guess this is what you should watch if you're looking for an animated movie to watch or a simple kiddy comedy or if you simply like johnny depp. =D

he has such weird but yet awesome roles.
